Barbara van Ittersum works between staged fiction and portraiture and creates psychologically and psychopathically charged visual scenes called Barbarizsms. She has photographed figures such as Vivienne Westwood, Dennis Hopper, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marina Abramovic, Keith Harring, San Proper and Blondie, placing them inside constructed, theatrical environments that blur identity, performance, and image.
