Dear readers, writers, and artists,

Whilst wallowing in the joy of the first Unsafe Journal publications, we entertained ourselves with the constant stream of obligations and artistic sidetracks: finishing our first film, SCORCHED EARTH (now available on our website) and screening it in New York; moving from one studio to the next; and the apparently unpreventable hiccups, dramas, breakups, and teardrops.

But now, as the dust of our new studio — located in Amsterdam Noord — slowly settles, we’ve learned that The Unsafe Journal inbox has kept filling up as a gutter for provocations and heresies from the most unexpected corners.

This includes a selection of letters from prison. Texts that, without a doubt, adhere to the Unsafe Journal’s assignment. A selection of these will be published over the coming weeks, alongside poems from Africa, the adventures of a new, whimsical Roald Dahl-like character named Dr. Mildred Pipkin, and essays by The Criticmatron. And who knows what other irreverent words, provocative sentences, or mythic imagery will find their way into our inbox.
